How this ranking is scored
We took portable ENERGY STAR dehumidifiers certified at 45 to 55 pints per day (the '50-pint' class under the current DOE test) and compared the 10 most efficient.
- Efficiency (IEF) (50%): liters removed per kWh: lower power bills (higher is better)
- Capacity (30%): certified water removal per day (higher is better)
- Annual energy use (20%): certified yearly electricity use (lower is better)
FAQ
Why do some '50-pint' units show fewer pints?
The U.S. DOE test changed in 2019 to cooler, more realistic conditions; many units marketed under the old 70-pint rating certify at about 50 pints now. This page uses the current certified figure.
What is IEF?
Integrated Energy Factor: liters removed per kWh including standby power. Here it ranges from 2.02 to 2.24 L/kWh.
Where do these numbers come from?
From the U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR certified Dehumidifiers dataset (retrieved 2026-11-01). We rank the certified results; we did not run our own tests.
